The Virgin Group may own Virgin Money but the credit cards they offer are actually linked to a bigger banking network.
Originally established in England by Virgin Enterprises Limited, the Virgin Money brand is a registered trademark of the Virgin family but used under licence in Australia by Citigroup.
This means that Citibank is the credit provider and issuer of Virgin Money credit cards, even though Virgin Money Australia promotes and distributes the credit cards under an arrangement with Citibank.
In fact, Citibank is the provider of all non-cash payment facilities offered by Virgin Money and while this does not generally make any difference for credit card conditions and use, it can cause some complications for balance transfers.
Most balance transfers offer low rates for the introductory period as a way of helping new cardholders to reduce their credit debt.
Unfortunately these offers cannot usually be given to existing customers of a particular provider.

The case against rewards credit cards by Peter Andrew
Earlier this week, The Washington Post published a blog post by Natalie McNeal. You may have heard of her. Shes made something of a career out of first accumulating and then repaying $20,000 in credit card debt. Shes written a book, and has her own website. Excuse your blogger while he tamps down his envy, and composes himself.
Rewards credit cards bad?
Thats better. Anyway, the overall thrust of McNeals blog was that she was (on balance and with caveats) against rewards credit cards in general and travel rewards cards in particular. And she gave three reasons why:
- Having had so much credit card debt before, she was determined to avoid it again.

A lot of people scoff at reward cards because the rewards don’t seem all that great. Last week, I told you about the great card from AARP that offers an introductory cash back rate of 5%. I later told you how you could get in on the deal even if you are not old enough to be a regular member of AARP.
If five percent did not get your attention, how about 10%? Sure there are some cards that will give you 10% back on specific merchants. Thes

Without a doubt, Discover credit cards are one of the more popular types that are offered to consumers today. There is a variety available for those who have a perfect credit rating to those who may not have very good credit. They also have cards that offer incentives to shoppers who transfer balances, for people who want to earn cash rewards and even credit cards for students.
The rates will vary depending upon which type of card meets your needs. The ones that offer incentives work similarly to other credit cards that offer incentives as well. The typical reduced or 0% interest rate is charged for a period of time after which the rate will go back to the regular interest rates.
They also offer balance transfers that work on the same premise.
