How would you like to finally get rid of all your credit card debt? The thing you need to realize is that credit card debt is always going to be there, you just need to figure out a way to deal with it. What most people don’t realize is that not all credit card debt is bad, for instance if you were to use a credit card to pay for a business lunch than that would be a good expense. The reason this would be a good expense is because the credit card is traceable, the expense was for business, and you get to use free money for a month.

Now I don’t want you to think that credit card debt is all good, it is not. Most credit card debt is bad and most people want to get out of debt. That is what I am here to help you with today, let’s get you out of debt together.

Ask for a settlement – If you have been missing credit card payments then you should ask for a debt settlement. The nice thing about settlements is they don’t affect your credit score that much and they are great at lowering the amount you have to pay back. Most creditor now days will give people settlements just to make sure they get some money back but at the same time some credit card companies will cancel your account as well.

Pay a lump sum – If you have money just sitting around not being used then I would consider using that to make a lump sum payment to your credit card company. The only place I would not take money from is a retirement account, anywhere else would make sense. Just remember the bigger the lump sum is the less you will have to pay later.

The last thing you need to understand is that getting rid of your credit card debt can take a little while but the journey will teach you things that you will never forget. Most people take between 1-4 years to pay off all their credit card debt and if this is the case then just make sure you have a plan and stick to it.

Planning for your financial future is a step that everyone should take and debt management is the cornerstone of that.
